Life Sheath > Restore Conditions?
In the toying-arounds of the new improved Elite Skills, I have sparked an arguement with my allies: Is LS actually better than RC?
Let's first look at the pros and cons of both skills:
Restore Condition:
Pros:
Removes all conditions on targeted ally and heals them for each removed
Spammable recharge
Low energy requirement
Cons:
Cannot self-target
Prone to interrupts despite 3/4 cast time.
Only heals if conditions are cured
Life Sheath:
Pros:
Can negate more damage than RoF
Removes 2 conditions at respective spec
Spammable recharge
Quick cast (1/4s)
Can self-target
Cons:
Can only remove 2 conditions even at 16 prot
Negated dmg scaled (wanding still has annoying results)
So, is LS>RC and will it replace the long-preferred skill?

it all depends on how the rest of the meta shifts due to the new skill balanced.

No. Look at these bars.
[build=OwUTMsHDXSgYm4uiiQL6BsmwEAA]
[build=OwUUMsG/E4SNgbE3EkEfEQgxVmAA]
The HB monk has 2 self heals. Patient, and draw. HB draws, RC removes, huge heal.
Of course you could just switch up all sorts of stuff on the monk bars to make them almost work as good as the ones posted above to try and be abstract and different, but I don't think one mediocre skill change, basically a rof with condition removal, will call for any such thing.
edit: In HA i mean. I don't know anything about gvg since i fell asleep at 25 minutes the last 8 times i tried it.

Also depends on if they decide to nerf it a bit similar to Way of the Assassin.

It does bar compression but really, what are you going to put in that slot anyway? Plus all the "redbar" prot stuff is elite.

taking life sheath over rc means a few things
1)you can now remove condis off of yourself
2)you can stop spikes better with the condi removal + rof being in one 1/4 speed cast rather than 2 casts that equal up to 1 second not including aftercast delays
3)you can drop reversal of fortune and take either a party heal, or gift of health
quite a difference.
oh and you can't be interupted on it unless you're predictable

the main thing would be its less vulnerable to interrupts, well just have to see if people shift the meta to include this skills.

it's a good skill, but too bad AI doesn't know how to use it. after all, AI still can't use healing burst properly.

I think you're missing the biggest pro of RC: the 150+ heal.

Getting DW's off that target that just got rended faster might be worth the lost healing. Plus you now have room for a 100 pt gift to compensate for your loss in red-bar pushing.

I really doubt that the RoF-like abilities of Sheath with the added condition removal, aswell as the other pros will overshadow the incredibly huge heal of RC.

life sheath is good for bar compression, which makes it very good on an arena monk.
behold! my incredibly manly monk:
guardian
patient spirit/gift of health
life sheath
savage slash
holy veil
spirit bond
bull's strike
shield bash
in soviet russia, monks shutdown you!

Arenas - LS because you self target.
HA/GVG- RC, because the effect is much better overall.

I was playing with LS last night in HA; it was definitely interesting, and the mid-spike capabilities of it are amazing. Generally it removed all the conditions on people, as well as providing a nice RoF+.
I ran hex breaker in my free slot, but i could see heaven's delight being a great alternative too.
Anyways, we made it to HoH four times and won twice consecutively. Then we lost to (Nerd) because neither of our eles had MH! (wtf?) and we hit a relic run. oh well. I'm not entirely sure which one I like better, but having hex breaker stopped hexway from even targeting me, and I didn't have to watch as diligently on what the enemy mesmer was doing.
